Itโs 8:35 AM in the morning and more than 10 people are waiting to get into YMCA. Only 4 lifeguards are in the facility but no one can help us to get in yet. My reservation of swim is done through online portal. Feels like management is going downhill. Not sure if other locations are like this.

I wanted to take a moment to recognize the staff at the Kent YMCA. Iโve always enjoyed coming here. The facility is clean, the environment is welcoming, and the staff are consistently friendly and helpful. But what happened this week reminded me why great people make all the difference. After swimming on Wednesday afternoon, I packed up my things and drove all the way to Seattle during rush hour. About an hour later, I realized I had left my wedding ring in a locker. I immediately panicked. I was in tears and terrified that it was gone. When I called the front desk, the staff members were incredibly kind and reassuring. They immediately checked the locker area, found my ring, and safely held onto it until I could return. I cannot express how grateful I am. They had every opportunity to ignore the situation or simply tell me to come back and look for it myself, but instead they went above and beyond to help. Their honesty, integrity, and compassion turned what could have been a terrible day into a huge relief. Thank you to everyone who helped. Itโs comforting to know there are still trustworthy people who genuinely care. The Kent YMCA is lucky to have such an amazing team.

Overall, this is an okay place to work out, and the staff is always very friendly and welcoming. However, the gym really needs more machines. Specifically, it completely lacks a cable machine for lat pulldowns, and there just aren't enough back machines in general. If they upgraded the equipment selection, it would be a much better facility

After several years as a member, I canceled due to repeated issues with trainer professionalism and lack of follow-up from leadership. A trainer, Robyn, moved my belongings off equipment I was actively using, then on a separate occasion asked me to move from another machine she wanted to use with a client. I reported both concerns, and the response I received from the supervisor, Vani, excused behavior that was inappropriate and unjustifiable. For an organization that publicly promotes equity, accountability, and respectful community spaces, my experience did not reflect those values. There was a clear lack of awareness from staff, which is especially concerning in a community facility that welcomes people from diverse backgrounds. I expected better respect, accountability, and basic gym etiquette.

This location is the worst I have ever been too, which is really unfortunate because its nearest to me and I want to be able to come here with my family and workout while my kids have fun at the kids club, but the gym is so small and has hardly any equipment and its not well maintained for the price you pay for membership and in comparison to some other locations especially the pierce county clubs like sumner and puyallup I can't do it. I was a member here years ago and canceled because of these reasons and came back for a trial hoping it might be different and it was the same. Also the people who work the front desk are not very friendly and not helpful which I remember from before being a thing. That also hasnt changed.
